Odds & Ends

I’ve been at Alternative Press for two and half weeks, and it’s been nonstop the whole time. I started in the middle of production for our upcoming issue. I’ve had some crazy long days, but it hasn’t scared me off yet.  I forgot how much I missed just being in a magazine office. We’re a small staff (only eight on the production side–four in the art department and four in editorial) so it didn’t take me long to fall into the groove of things with everyone. I’m the only girl on the editorial side, and the guys love to give me a hard time about a certain musician I love and reprimand me for not wearing earplugs. And yet, I still love those crazy dudes.

I can’t wait for the next issue of AP to hit stands (mainly so I can take a picture of my name on the masthead and share it on every social media outlet.) It feels good to work for something I can be proud of. On another work-related note, I got my first assignment for the magazine. I’m beyond excited and can’t wait to share it with everyone. Until then, here are a few happy odds and ends from the past couple weeks.

The most AMAZING chocolate chip cookies ever. You can find the recipe on my Pinterest board “Good Eats I’ve Made.”

Watching the sunset before the fireworks start on the Fourth.

A “congrats on the new job” gift from Hopeless Records.

Rocking out. I can now check “Have a tourist day in Cleveland” off my Rules of Summer list.

You know you’re a real journalist when you have your own business cards.

A gift the parents brought back from vacation. Ponyboy was my first literary crush.
